Hi accam,

Charles Merion is listed as marrying a Christiana Kerr and having one child......you can find it at the Tasmanian Archives site....just type in Merion

Hi Siouxsie

I have that but.............@ indicates that the date give for a marriage is derived from the date of the first identified birth of a child to the two people and therefore may not be accurate. In such cases the place is derived in the same way and may not be accurate.
This is what I know .
Christina Kerr ( not Merion)   m. John Williams 1858  as a spinster and not a widow or....??
her son b. 1856  was Charles Merion aka Williams
It is the same Christina Kerr as I have found Charles in the Williams family.

So did Christina marry Charles Merion??
Was there  a Charles Merion at all.....
I cannot find any other Merions in Tas archives

Thans for your help

Hi accam,

I have checked the Pioneer index for Tasmania and can only find a marraige for a Christina Kerr to a John Williams.
5/06/1858 reg number 515/1858 Launceston RDG 37.

I found a birth for a Male child born 20/09/1856 reg number 857/1856 Launceston RDG 33.
Parents were Charles Merion and Christiana Kerr.

There are no other Merion surnames on the Indexes.

Hi Johngirl and Siouxsie

I dont think there was a Charles Merion  Senior......... as you say there is no marriage record or death or any other Merions.
Christina had a son 2 years before she married John Williams he was Charles Merion  unnamed Merion in the records he then went by Williams after Christina married .
This Charles Williams m. Carrie How 1888
That maybe as close as I will get on this one
Thanks for your help
cheers

Sorry accam next time I will read the post properly and not rush. :-[

Just realised the Charles Merion aka Williams you mentioned was the son of your Christina not a potential husband who was using the name Charles Merion aka Williams as I thought. :-[ :-[

You must have thought I had lost the plot ;D

Hi Andrea

Charles Williams and Carrie How were your gg grand parents then.

Charles and Carrie had 7children and it is from a descendant of Kenneth Charles that I have some info .

When you have made 3 posts here I will be able to email you, so we will be able to compare notes then
that maybe the easiest way.

Thanks for getting back to me.  I come through from Norman How Williams (my grand father, Norman Ralph Williams, my father).  You are pretty close to Dawn Williams then from both sides.  She has contacted me.
