Title: Mildred Stichborn
Post by: Tensixty6 on Sunday 02 May 10 09:10 BST (UK)
Seeking help on Mildred Stichborn. I have no information on her other than her marriage to Henry Hastings in October of 1706 in Herstmonceaux, Sussex.

Any further information would be appreciated.

Thanks, Christopher

Hi and welcome to rootschat
I see that the marriage was by licence.  Have you tried to trace that?   Does the original register hold any clues?   There are only four Stichborn and variant marriages on the Sussex Marriage Index so they will probably all be related and it might be worth looking at the others to see if following them back is helpful.

Sarah Stichborn was born in Westham which is only six miles from Hailsham in 3.sep.1713. Almost certainly a niece or something like that

The Hailsham area has quite a number of TICHBORNEs (various spellings) so it may also be worth looking at those.  One Mildred Tichborne was baptised in Jevington in the 1740s, and if you consider that individuals often like to repeat the names of their siblings and other relatives, there just might be a possible connection.
