Title: James Hayes
Post by: dragon58 on Thursday 29 April 10 17:28 BST (UK)
Im trying to find out who was the mother of James Hayes, born in Gorton 1815,manchester, his father was a thomas hayes, stonemason, who i am pretty sure came from St martin, Beverly, yorkshire. I know he married ann walton in 1824, but am unsure if he married before that, i have been unable to find any other thomas hayes who was a stonemason. so if anyone has any info, i would appreciate it.
many thanks.

Hi dragon58,

Just wanted to post a link to your thread on the Yorkshire (East Riding) board as there are some excellent replies on there that could help with your question here:-

Its just a thought but is it possible James could have been Ann Walton's son and he took his step father's name when they married?  This would of course make more sense if she wasn't born in Yorkshire but according to the 1841 census she was  ???.  As I say its just an idea.

thanks luzuu for info, have now solved the mystery, thomas married ann grant in 1815 in glenfield leictester, they divorced and she married anthony Cumberland loughborough,in 1819,so james was the son of ann and thomas, born in 1815. but thanks for your help.
