Hello,
I was looking for some assistance.
My grandfather, Gordon Ian Whiteman was born in South Africa in 1922 to British parents. I was wondering if anyone knew how I could locate his birth record. Also his parent's marriage record, I think they married in SA as his father was Scottish, from Port Glasgow and mother English from Bath.
Many thanks for your asssitance.

Hi there,
Unfortunately there is no database for bmds in South Africa. I will see what I can find but unfortunately info is very very limited.
Please be aware that it is not advisable to ask for details of possibly living persons under 100 years of age, unless he has died, as this can lead to identity theft etc. Did he die in South Africa? If so you may be able to get a death certificate. What were his parents names?
Thanks Ruth

Hi again,
The passenger records indicate that he was born on the 5 Dec 1922. With this info you may be able to apply to home affairs but this is a long drawn out procedure, often with no results! It appears he must have lived in natal in the 1950's.

Hi there,
And thank you for your reply. Yes that is correct, he was born on 5th December 1922. He died in Scotland in 1984. His parent's names were Frederick John Whiteman and Winifred May Smith.
I appreciate you help with this.
Kind regards
