I know there isn't one in the Bluntisham registers  but the Colne registers haven't been transcribed and only available from Huntingdon / cambridge records office.

I was hoping someone whilst they were there could have a look

I have found his birth on the indexes for 1861 Q1.
It doesn't show up on any of the searches either on BMD or ancestry.

Did everyone have their child baptised in the 1860's or do you think he might not have been baptised?

Thnks

Hi

That's a really good find - I wonder why it's not on freebmd?

I'm sure there were lots of children who were not baptised.  If he was illegitimate, perhaps the family wanted to "keep it in the family"

I am afraid it does happen sometimes that the indexes on FreeBMD and Ancestry etc miss entries that are in the registers that is why its always worth browsing the registers page by page when you can not find them in the indexes. I learnt this from experience when I had a will of an ancestor hence knew when he died but he was not in the indexes, a search of the registers page by page threw up his reference

Colne church tower collapsed in 1896 and the church was rebuilt in a new location at the centre of the village about 6 years later. I guess some of the records may have been lost.
