Could someone please look up a marriage for Alicia Horne born 1882?
Kind regards

-
Bev,
Could this be your "Alicia Horne".
HORNE - Fran Alicia Ruth
Married - WORLAND Walt Edwd (birth place Vic)
Register Number #7722 - Year 1905.
Birth details -

Sarra

Hi Sarra,
No, unfortunately she is not! Her parents were Jonathon Horne and Agnes Roper.
Kind regards
Bev

Hi Bev,
You do not give an indication of where in Victoria ALICIA HORNE may have lived, but here is a NSW marriage in ALBURY which is a border town in NSW.
In 1902 WHITE, FREDERICK to HORNE, ALICIA at ALBURY reg. 6150
Sue
-
Again in ALBURY births to the couple.
What do yo think?
In 1902 WHITE, ETHEL A father FREDERICK mother ALICIA at ALBURY reg. 29178
In 1906 WHITE, ALICE E father FREDERICK mother ALICIA at ALBURY reg. 21007
Sue
-
Thanks Sue,
The name Frederick rang a bell, so this would be it I am pretty sure - thanks also for the children.
Kind regards
Bev
-
Hi Sue,
Being cheeky now, but could you look up marriage for both the daughters please and death for Frederick White please?
Kind regards
Bev
-
Hi Bev,
I do not have resources to look for your people in Victoria
Perhaps others may be more helpful.
The results I have posted are from NSW bmd . You can search for yourself. Without knowing Frederick's parents' names, it will be hard to pick his death among the many by the name.
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/Index/IndexingOrder.cgi/search?event=births
Quite possibly he died in Victoria and also quite likely that the daughters' marriages were there too.
Here is one NSW marriage possibility for a daughter, but no knowing without a certificate or transcript.
In 1935 BARRETT , JOHN E M to WHITE, ETHEL A at SYDNEY reg. 5817

Hi there,
Just in case this is of interest and to follow up Sue's post:
Again in ALBURY births to the couple. What do yo think?
In 1902 WHITE, ETHEL A father FREDERICK mother ALICIA at ALBURY reg. 29178
In 1906 WHITE, ALICE E father FREDERICK mother ALICIA at ALBURY reg. 21007
From 1903 Electoral Roll, Albury
Alicia WHITE at Macauley St (domestic duties) and also same street (no house numbers shown) Frederick WHITE, his occupation blacksmith
Herbert Roger HORNE at Smollet St, a medical practioner and same street Mary HORNE, domestic duties perhaps Herbert was unrelated to Jonathan HORNE and Agnes ROPER, but on offchance that Roper was Roger (or vice versa) I include the HORNE sighting too.
Cheers, JM
-
Thank you JM & Sue,
It would appear to be right with Frederick and Alicia as from 1909 Alicia & Frederick (blacksmith) are residing in Victoria till the 1954 one at least.
Kind regards
Bev

I've searched the Victorian Death Index for Alicia WHITE.
Found this one which could be a possible, although it says her father was Joseph not Jonathan.?
WHITE Alicia - Year of death 1969 - Reg no #2589 - death place BRIG.(probably Brighton)
Father - HORNE Joseph - mother - unknown.
If you could give me the full name of Ethel A and Alice E WHITE, it would help in searching for them.
Alicia HORNE's birth was registered as Eletia HORNE.
Details.... year 1882 - reg no #19962 - place - Warr (probably Warrenheip) near Ballarat Victoria.
Sarra
-
Hi Sarra,
I would bet on that being Alicia's death! Unfortunately the only thing I know about Ethel A and Alice E is what I have been told on here and also a marriage in Albury NSW for Ethel A, though it seems funny when I can find the parents in Victoria from 1909 onwards and a death for Alicia also in Victoria that she would go back to NSW to marry in 1935.
I haven't been able to find either of them on Ancestry at all to help me out
Kind regards
Bev

Hi Sue,
I think there are too many coincidences for it not to be the ones I am looking for and perhaps with her full name I may find out a bit more about them. The sister seems to have 'sailed away into the sunset' doesn't she?
Kind regards
Bev
-
Bev,
Yes it does seem to be a good match for Alicia White's death.
I'll check for her burial in one of the Cemeteries, also check the Probate Index.
Will do this later - at my local library.
I can see Alicia's siblings on the Victorian Indexes.
If you would like them - please let me know.
Sarra
-
Hi Sarra,
Thank you for your help now and in the future. I found the siblings names on their mother's death certificate so that is how I have been trying to fill in details of all of them.
Kind regards
Bev
-
Hi,
I would be interested to see the names and birth years and places of birth of Alicia's siblings please :)
Sue

Hi Sue,
These are all children of Jonathon and Agnes Horne:
Agnes b: 1875 Bungaree
Jonathon b: 1878 Victoria?
Mary b: 1879 Warra
Jane b: 1881 Warra
Alicia b: 1882 Warra
Ellen b: 1884 Warra
Annie b: 1885 Warra
Elizabeth b: 1887 Ballarat
Lilly b: 1889 Ballarat
Arthur b: 1892 Victoria?
Ethel b: 1894 Guildford
Mary, Jane, Ellen and Elizabeth died very early.
Agnes Horne also had 2 illegitimate children before she married Jonathon - they were Thomas or Owen, and David or Henry Roper.
Kind regards
Bev
-
Here they are -
HORNE John - 1877 reg no #19375 - Warrenheip.
" Mary - 1879 - #20040 - Warr.
" JANE - 1881 - #6216 - "
" ELetia - 1882 - #19962 - "
" Ellen - 1884 - #13553 - "
" Annie - 1885 - #29566 - "
" Elizabeth - 1887 #16734 - BALL.
" Lilly - 1889 - #28272 - Ballarat.
" Ethel - 1893 - #32107 - Guil (Guildford ?)
Deaths -
HORNE - Jane - 1882 #7339 - Warrenheip. (age 15 months)
" Ellen - 1885 - #10658 - Wheip (age 1 year).
Also it appears (I think this is correct) Agnes Roper - had three children before she married.
ROPER - Owen - 1867 - #6116 - Ballt (Ballarat)
" - Henry - 1870 - #13731 - Ballarat.
" Agnes - 1875 - #6949 - Ballarat.
I can see the deaths for - Agnes, Ethel and Annie - I haven't checked when they married yet.
EDIT - just posting when Bev replied - looks like I missed a few?? Anyway we can compare them. :)
Sarra
-
Hi,
I am including Agnes Horne who was born Roper, but married as Horne as the first child of Jonathon and Agnes as her name was down on the death certificate as the 1st of the children.
Going on the dates you have down I would conclude that the Jonathon you had down for 1877 would be the 1st of the legitimate children. I had him down as 1878.
The two illegitimate children were not included on Agnes' death certificate though they were living. Just the thinking of some people I suppose and they were living in West Australia by the time Agnes died.
Thanks for the reference numbers as well.
Kind regards
Bev.

Hi Bev,
No success in finding Probate or burial place for Alicia White.
I noticed on the Australian Electoral Rolls - that Alicia & Frederick White, were living at King Edward Avenue, Sunshine. (1914-1949)
Alicia White is still there in 1954, however no Frederick - perhaps he had passed away by that time.
Possible death for Frederick White??.
Victorian Death Index 1921-1985.
WHITE Fredck -
Age - #72 years.
Year 1952 - reg no #8189 - death place - SShine. (probably Sth Sunshine)
parents - Josiah White - Emma Brucewaters.
Could be worth while, asking for someone with the, Footscray Cemetery Index, to do a lookup for you. As Sunshine is near to Footscray.
Sarra
-
Deleted as there are two Alicia WHITE's
and was in the process of searching Footscray as Sue posted. :)
Cando

Hi All,
OR
Here are the possible burial and MI details for ALICIA WHITE.
ALICIA WHITE. Aged 86 buried 29/1/1969. Of Sunshine. Private Grave. Funeral Director Warne. C of E. Row E 5 656. Re-opened.
MI for the couple reads...
In Loving Memory of our husband and father Frederick White who passed away 17th July 1952 aged 72 and Alicia, devoted wife of above who passed away 27th Jan 1969 aged 86.
Sue
ADDING
Frederick is in the same location in case that was not clear.
-
..... children were not included on Agnes' death certificate though they were living. .....
I think the question that the informant answered may have caused this .... I think the question was along the lines of "Give names and ages of the Children of the Marriage and if Living or Deceased"
Cheers, JM

Hi Sarra, Cando, Sue & JM,
Not a very good day! My husband went early and had his blood test, then went to wait for his chemo infusion - sat there 3 hours and was then told to go home as his liver readings were a bit raised. He even had the day he was finishing chemo up on the calendar, but now has to change it and doesn't like that one bit.
However, the information waiting for me from all of you has brightened my day up at least.
Thank you all for your help it is much appreciated.
Kind regards
Bev

Bev,
Sorry to hear about your OH's bad news.
Glad we could find something to cheer you up.
This board is one of the best for digging things up. They never give up.
Sarra :)
-
Hi,
Yes, I agree with Sarra. Disappointing family news.
There are a number of Ballarat burials in the name HORNE.
I can spot the 2 little baby girls together there.
If you do not have and want their particular locations, let me know.
Given the dates of death (if you are able) I can let you know if any of these people are yours.
Sue
-
Sarra & Sue,
Thanks for that and I would appreciate the information.
Kind regards
Bev

There may be other burials at Footscray as well Ethel GREENHAM and Arthur HORNE. Will do some electoral roll lookup later and see if I can find Arthur with a wife as there are a couple of marriages that could be his.
