McGarrigle lived around Ballyshannon listed on the Ballyshannon electors list of 1939/40 are you a RC you could try St. Joseph RC Church, The Rock, Ballyshannon, County Donegal.  They are not happy about giving information out by phone or post anymore owing to fraud.  McGarrigle play Irish football for Ballyshannon team Aodh Ruadh photo of McGarrigle on their site if you go through one of the search eng. like google when the box come up type in Aodh Ruadh
there was a very good site for Ballyshannon but it seems have gone missing.
Have you tried the phone books for Ballyshannon. McGarrigle still living in Ballyshannon.

The Michael McGarrigle I am looking for must have been born c1840/50's as he married in a Civil marriage in 1877. I am not RC I live in Carmarthenshire Wales and have been tracing the McGarrigle tree in Ireland for over a year now but cannot seem to find anything about Daniel McGarrigle's father Michael and mother Bridget.
Daniel McGarrigle was born in 1884 married Mary Ann Devenie 28th Nov 1911 at the RC Chapel of St. Brigid - Daniel died on the 5th July 1951 at Drumchorrick Ederney.
Are you able to tell me if there is an office I could write to at Cashalard Cemetery....not sure how things work in Ireland.
We have an office at our cemeteries where they do look ups for you.
Thank you for your help.

The marriage cert of Michael should state his fathers name and also the townland where he resided.
Very few cemeteries in Donegal have tombstones pre dating 1900 so you are unlikely to find a tombstone. Likewise burial records were not kept until recently.

Yes on his marriage certificate his address is Drimanillar and Bridget Maguire's address is Umracam.  Michael McGarrigle's father is Daniel a farmer and Bridget's was John a shoemaker.  No ages were on the certificate just over 21.
Any possible help would be appreciated.

I did see Michael McGarrigle on the 1911 census but thought it wouldn't be the correct one as he is single.
I was looking for one married or widowed.  There is another Michael McGarrigle aged 75 he is a widower and a farmer at Derryrona Glebe Belleek Fermanagh but cannot say whether this is him or not.

Do you have Daniel's birth cert - there was a Daniel McGarrigle birth registered Oct - Dec 1882 in Ballyshannon District which covers part of Donegal and part of Fermanagh

I do have the marriage of Daniel McGarrigle to Mary Ann Devenie 18th Nov 1911 at the RC Chapel of St. Brigid it doesn't give their ages only "full age".
I have the 1911 census of Daniel McGarrigle living on his own, his occupation a farmer single and he states he was born in America.  I know the McGarrigle family did go back and fore to America as I have some shipping records but cannot find anything for his mother going there.  I think the census place of birth is incorrect.  The census itself is right as his signature is on the bottom of the sheet which corresponds with his signature on his son's death certificate on the 31.12.1939 in Scotland.
The Parish of the census is Drumkeeran -the township Drumchorrick sub district Kesh and County of Fermanagh.
It doesn't give the name of the actual house/farm he lived on.
Daniel McGarrigle and Mary Ann Devenie had a son Daniel McGarrigle born XXXX and the name of the dwelling was Drumchorrick, the signature on this birth certificate is also the same as the census and death certificate mentioned earlier.
Many thanks for taking an interest.
I have just checked the Daniel McGarrigle  born Co.Donegal 27th Oct 1882 his address was Carricknahoma Kilbarron but his father was Thomas McGarricle and mother Anne Murray.

Drimanillar is spelt DRUMANILLAR, cashalard is spelt CASHELARD, St. Bridid's Church with ajoining cemetery, Ballintra, Donegal death of a McGarrigle this year.
Death of McGarrigle st. Mary Church CASHELARD four years ago buried in ajoining cemetery.
found a Michael McGarrigle age 65 and a Mary Anne McGarrigle aged 46 with family living at 2 Spaddan, on the census of 1911.  But that does not mean other family members live there, but out at the time of census.

The Census were taken on who was in the house at the time the Census people came. Not who lived in the house.

Most of the townland were flax seed growers for the linen industry.

Thank you for pointing out the correct spelling.
I did see the 1911 census with Michael McGarrigle being 65 and his wife Mary Anne being 46 but Michael was married to a Bridget and the children of this household are not belonging to the Michael McGarrigle I am looking for.  The residents of 2 Spaddan do look as though they are one family what do you think?
I believe the Michael McGarrigle I am searching for also had a brother Daniel McGarrigle and he possibly moved to Boston America.
