Hi MG...well, creased baggy trousers with cuffs (turnups to you :)), short knitted vest on one man, double-breasted vest on another...I would say late 1920s.

This will bump the post up for further attention. You might PM old rowley or jim1 as they are much better at men's fashions than I am.

Cheers,
China

Well, I'd date it later, somewhere between 1939 and 1944. These look to me like wartime styles.

Hello Mrs.Griff
1920's but which part of the decade is hard to say. These square cut double-breasted waistcoats were popular from just after WW1 as were collar bars as worn by the chap on the left which complimented the soft collars of the decade & designed to stop the ends flapping about.

Look at the two fellows in the right-rear of the shot. Definitely not 1920s. The 3  men in front just may not have been dressed in the style of the day, for whatever reason. Since this is a candid shot, not a studio portrait, you're bound to find a variety of styles.

That looks like an excursion boat, such as Liverpool to North Wales, or similar, and they would not be running in WW2 years, I think.

Look at the young lady background, left.  She is wearing a headscarf and showing a fair amount of leg.....

Yes, hemlines went a long way up before dropping sharply in 1929.

I'm not convinced the lady at the back is in a headscarf,it looks like a late 20's cloche hat.

Thank you everyone,
The reason I wanted a date is because I thought it could be my grandfather and his brothers but my grandfather died in 1923 aged 39 ,but I now think the gent in the middle is my grandfathers newphew who won a Military Medal in 1944 fighting in Italy I have that medal ,and the other two could be his father & brother or uncle .there is a North Wales connection so could the pier be Bangor or Llandudno ? can you see steam coming out of a funnel  and are there gas lights on the pier .

How I wish our ancestors  put names and dates on pics , but then maybe our research wouldn't be so exciting .

Kind Regards Mrs Griff.

The Pier in the photo is neither Llandudno or Bangor, I'm sorry to have to tell you.
