Crickey, he's a gas stoker ten years later. I wonder what happened there. ::)
I really want to see if Edwin can be seen at home, when he was younger and before marriage, with any siblings. In particular an Emily J. b. 1856ish. So I'm going to move the parameters a bit. Can anybody see Edwin on the 61 please.
They may be Hewinson, they may be Witt. Or they could be both.
Alternatively, can anybody see him on the 1851 census. Then at least I will have his parents to trace on from.
Regards

Many thanks for all your hard work. I was so relieved to find Emily Jane amongst them :D That means that my theory was correct, which is always satisfying ;D
Can I ask. Henry, in Worcester, on the 1861. Is he still a Butcher?
Kind regards and thanks.

If you require more information about the Hewinsons / Witts-Hewinsons I have a full family tree for the Hewinsons from c1700 (prior to 1900 the family are historically located mainly in Gloucestershire, and, from 1876, South Wales as well, although nobody seems to know where the name originated from prior to 1700). The name is relatively rare - some 300 odd occurrences in 300 years. The Witts-Hewinson name started with Henry Witts-Hewinson, variously Henry Witts Hewinson and Henry Witts, born 1810 Bishops Cleeve, Glos., son of Charlotte Hewinson (singlewoman, 1788-1843) and a William Witts. He had 10 children all christened Witts-Hewinson between 1838 and 1856. One son, Eli, emigrated to New Zealand in 1873 on the "Star of India" with his wife and 3 children at the time, hence the name now there today, although the Witts element has been dropped in a lot of cases. Others Hewinson legs emigrated to the USA, Australia and South Africa, which accounts for the name in these countries today. Hewy

Hi Hewy,
In 1901 my great great aunt married William Witts Hewinson who came to New Zealand in 1873. I would love to know what you have on their descendants.
