Title: Cap Badge
Post by: cheekymole on Friday 16 April 10 18:51 BST (UK)
I have a photo of my Great Grandfather in Army uniform and I would like to know which regiment he served in.
He was born in 1877.
The cap badge looks like a horse running with the name maybe underneath. It's so small though on the photo.
He lived in lancashire if that's any help.

Thank you  ;D

Sounds suspiciously like The King's (Liverpool) Regiment.

The King's (Liverpool Regiment) Hanover horse has his head to the left, forefeet raised slightly as if prancing, and the word 'King's' on a curved ribbon beneath.  There are variations, according to date.
There are also others with horses, but let's try this one first.

Thank you

Looks suspiciously as your description - do you know if there are records to confirm if he was in this regiment?

Have you any other details on your Gt Grandfather? There are three shown on the 1911 census around that date - all married, do you know anything else about him and his family??
George.
