Title: Desperate restoration help please

I am going to my uncles funeral tomorrow and would love to take this photo for my aunt.
It's a bit worse for wear after 60 years.
Can you help please?

see if there is anything here that you feel is what you need.
the repairs seem to alter his face toooo much... so added one with messy face....!!!!!!!!!

It's so sad that photos get put away in cupboards and drawers and end up looking like this.
It's the only photo we have of when he was a young man. so once again
