I'm looking for William Baxter & family in the 1841 census. He was born c 1823 in Bury St. Edmunds but probably living in Middlesex by 1841. He may have a brother Benjamin (shoemaker). In 1846 he was married and living in Kingsland. thanks Denise

Hi Denise,
There is no index that I have found for 1841 - if you have an address I should be able to look that up for you, depending on which part of Middlesex you need.

How old would Benjamin have been in 1841?
Do you know his parents?
Any other siblings?
their is this family...........
1841
PLEASANT ROW, ST MARY ISLINGTON, FINSBURY, MIDDX
JOHN BAXTER 47 TOWN TRAVELLER N
ANN " 45 SEAMSTRESS N
FRANCES " 21 DRESS MAKER N
SOPHIA " 20 SEAMSTRESS N
JOHN " 18 PORTER N
WILLIAM " 15 ERRAND BOY N
BOAG " 12 " N
-------------------
* the name Boag looks to me more like Benj (Benjamin)
*the 1841 uses an age rule more often than not ie 15-20=15 although this family/enumerator does not appear to be using it

thanks Bryant - I never give up on this site. I have had some good answers a year down the line.
(it does remind me though to remove queries for which I have since found the answer!!)
Your 1841 finding is a possibility. I have ground to a halt on this line of the research and not sure where to go next with it.
