Is there any kind soul out there with a digital camera and time to spare to take a photo of a gravestone for me, please? I am unable to get there myself.
I have just discovered that my 3x greatgrandfather is buried in Preston Cemetery North Shields. He was a master mariner and died supposed drowned in 1878. A distant relative (Australia) has told me there is a gravestone .....I'd love to be able to show it to my dad, but I live 200+ miles away.

hi
Preston cemetery is very large and would take some searching to find a gravestone without knowing the rough whereabouts of it.If you go here http://www.northtyneside.gov.uk/browse-display.shtml?p_ID=26322&p_subjectCategory=403 and click on bereavement services there is an address and phone no to contact and i believe they are very helpful, and might give you an idea where the grave is.
Also try this for photos in the cemetery but be patient as they are very slow loading.

Very kind of you to offer. Spent a week on holiday last year and managed to find gravestone we wanted. Hope you were successful in your search.
Thanks again,
