Hi trying to trace the Fleming family in St. Davids Ontario.Steven Fleming(from Tipperary) married Theresa Derrigan (Kildare) in Nov. 1914 in Hull Quebec.
They had at least 2 sons John born 1915 in Hull and Francis born 1919?? where I`m not sure.I can see that in 1920 they were living in St. Davids cos Theresa`s sister Julia Derrigan arrives into Canada to settle and I can see that she continues to live there til her death in 1932.
My last finding for the 2 boys is a border crossing in 1929 with Julia to see her cousin in NY.Any help tracing the boys would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi,
St. David's is near Niagara Falls. Go to the city site & you'll find a photo of Theresa Fleming's gravestone. The dates are dirty & worn. If you can decipher the death date the Niagara Falls public library may be able to find an obituary for her.
There is also Stephen Fleming but no stone photo.
There is also a John Fleming 1915 - 1994 with wife.

Good hunting.

Thanks Roger I was able to see that another sister Anne Jane is buried in the same plot (married to Lawerence Downes) I didn`t realsie she had gone to Canada as well so thnks for that.

That's a great resource, Roger as it lists full names, including middle names, even though the stone may have only initials...such as Francis Joseph Fleming and wife Margaret Muriel ( nee McQueen), and John James Fleming with his wife Kathryn Mae ( nee Rogers)...Posting full names as they are deceased
If this is he...Stephen came over c. 1908 with family according to census...mother widow of patrick

I see from findmypast site that Teresa came over the same year they were married...also now see that Stephen may have also come later than census...
May still be family in the region to whom you could write inquiries ( Homewood Ave is right next to Fairview cem)

Thanks for that J.J. its a pity that Stephens details aren`t listed on the cemetery site to confirm DOB.Might just contact cemetery to see if they can provide details, hep me see is that him in the census.I`ll def try contacting some of those Flemings ..I`ve already made contact with some Downes in Niagara on Facebook looking for info,so just waiting to see what they can dig up.

Good evening,
You might want to contact the cemetery administration for info on your ancestors. The administrators are usually quite friendly and more that willing to help if they can. You can check out this site too: www.islandnet.com/cgi-bin/ms2/jveinot/search. Hope this helps,

Thanks for the advice JDC.Unfortunately I couldn`t open the link you sent me ...what was it a reference to?
-
Hi PatB,
The link I gave you is to the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid site which has database for transcriptions of where people are buried within most of the Ontario cemeteries. If you type in OCFA into a google search I would think it would be one of the first links to come up on the list.
http://www.islandnet.com/cgi-bin/ms2/jveinot/search here is the link again just to give it another shot :-) These people are in the process of doing the same for cemeteries in British Columbia and I beliee there is a link to that on the Ontario site.
Cheers, JDC

The clean link is here: http://www.islandnet.com/ocfa/search.php
JDC that link is convoluted as it gives a fatal error and crashes my web browser...probably their old address...wish websites wouldn't change their urls constantly as it makes for a real pain in the resources having to constantly check and redo links......J.J.

Hi JJ,
Thanks for the help with the link,
