Title: Wetheringsett Marriage 1800-1813 ish
Post by: spark on Sunday 11 April 10 19:58 BST (UK)
Hi,

I have a George Keely (and other spellings) born Cockfield ~1789 (census) who married a Mary of Wetheringsett ~1780 (census).  Other researchers cite her as nee Minter on Ancestry.

In the censuses they are living in Occuld and their children born Occuld from 1813 onwards that I am aware of.  No trace of a marriage in Occuld and no trace on family search or freereg.

Look forward to hearing from anyone with access to the marriage PR.

Thanks

Spark :)

Did you notice my recent entry on 'Resources and Links' - Occold are setting up a Local History Group and adding family history enquiries to their website.

Hi Spark :)

I've done the look-up for you, not a lot of joy though I'm afraid.

I checked the marriage records from 1797 - 1820 and couldn't find anything. The only Georges were Baker or Blomfield, not very much like Keely.
I checked the baptisms from 1801 - 1812 incase they had children there. Again the only George dads were Baker or Taylor.

I did find Mary though :-

Baptism dated June 18 1780 Mary, base child of Susan Mintor.

And that's it, the only Mintor I could find. I checked baptisms from 1779 - 1787 in case there were others but I couldn't find anything else.

If you want me to look anything else up please let me know by sending me a message. As you noticed I haven't been on for quite a while now. I stopped doing genealogy a couple of years ago as I became totally obsessed with it and got nothing else done! I intend to get back into it eventually but not until I have heaps of spare time! I am, however, more than willing to look up for others - that's the whole point of buying the records aye :)

Sorry I couldn't be of more help with this....good luck  :D

Thanks Westiesmith.

That baptism is on familysearch for Mary Mintor, which if I can prove my Mary Unknown is her I will take.  I suppose my next location is Cockfield to try.

Thanks

Hi Sparks,
don't know if this is any help at all, but I too am seeking info on a Mary Keely only my Mary married Thomas Nichols here in Norfolk (Bagthorpe) c 1802. Suffolk being "abroad" to us here in Norfolk is only 50 odd miles and we genealogists know how the ancients liked to travel. This would also explain why I can't find a birth for my Mary in Gods own county. So, could it be??

Hi CFC,

It is nearly 3 years since I posted this one! :)

I paid for some professional research at Suffolk RO, through their archivists. A Marriage was found in Occuld 13 Oct 1809. George Keely and Mary Minter.  They also found baps for 2 siblings to my lienage.

Best wishes for 2013,
SPark
