On arrivial stated he had a brother John then living in Tamworth. I am in UK now and wont be back to Australia to early June. I have more information - happy to share. Some of it is on my web site www.terrycallaghan.net - go to the 'about' page and follow the link at the bottom of the page.

I believe this could be my line also, My James Callaghan was born in Coolcross and married Catherine Toland of Rasheeny in 1858. Their names of their childrens were James, john , Daniel , Susan , Anthony , Elizabeth . Ring any bells?
-
I have a Susan Toland married Micheal Doherty parents of Bridget 1827 married John Callaghan 1825 the whole family came to Australia 1866 their referee was Bridget's Brother Patrick. There is probably a relationship as some of Bridget and John's kids have same names James, John, Daniel and Susan. All from Coolcross. Wondering if your James isn't my Johns brother was their father John (Owen). My John also had a brother Daniel.

I don't know James father, the fathers names are not listed on their marriage. James best man/witness was a Daniel Callaghan.
They had a daughter Elizabeth, the sponsors were a Daniel and Sarah Callaghan.
So was your Johns father called John and his father was Owen?

Hiya there, I haven't been on here in a while but thought I would just come back one and search a few names to see what comes up.My G Grandmother was born in Donegal in 1850 but came to Nuneaton Warwickshire her parents were Patrick Callaghan born around 1820 in Ireland and Mary Howe born In Nuneaton in 1816.
this is about all I have managed to find Patrick seems to disappear after 1871 and his children are with their grandparents in Nuneaton.
I have been searching for a few years now off and on and never find anything relating to him so It was nice to come here and Just see the Callaghan name so they did exist, I was beginning to wonder with mine.
any advice or tips where I could go next would be much appreciated ;D
