Title: Wyse/Nealon marriage
Post by: Goretti on Saturday 20 February 10 14:09 GMT (UK)
I am looking for the marriage of Daniel Wyse (Wise) & Kate Nealon around 1910-12. They moved to Cork City perhaps with the army and had my Father  Patrick in 1912. However my Granfather Daniel is buried in Limerick as he died there apprently on a visit to relative in Lower Gerald Griffin St.

Any help would be grealy appreciated.

The Irish Civil Index (http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable) is available on familysearch, but I dont see any Daniel Wise/Wyse marriages around the right time.

Have you found them on the 1911 census ?

No  have only found their childrens birth records in Dublin, and their death certs in cork and Limerick

What was Daniel's occupation ?  (from his children's birth certs)

p.s. since the place of marriage seems uncertain, maybe it would be better to have this post in the Ireland General section..

I presume that these occupations relate sometime after his marriage... if so is it correct to assume that his original occupation was a soldier ?

If he was a solder at the time of his marriage he could have been posted anywhere at the time... even outside Ireland. Do you have any clues as to where either Daniel or Kate were from originally ?

Irish death cert dont include place of birth (see Details included on a Death Cert (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,433043.0.html))... that's why I asked about the census, as it would include county of birth and number of years married.  Any idea if they could have been in England or overseas at the time of the census or marriage ?

Definately not in England at anytime even though all their children did emigrate here in the late 1930's. Children birth certs alter from Wyse to Wise and the mother changes from Nealon to nealeagh.

When I visited Lower Gerald Griffin st 3 years ago a woman told me that the Wyse(Wises) did live there along with the Ryans and they all moved to the Sic Skellig Rd?

Thank you so much for all your help I am shooting in the dark here. I will research a little more.

Regards

It might be worth trying a detailed search of the civil index for the marriage using variations in spelling etc, in case that the names were spelt in some unexpected way, or indexed incorrectly. Or maybe one of them used a middle name in late life...

There's only about 30 Wyse/Wise marriages (male & female) around 1911 in all Ireland.. and none of the first names look anything like Daniel or Dan etc

There's only 1 Daniel Wyse listed in 1911 census- has wife Margaret an 6 children and lives in Waterford so doesn't look like the right one:

No results for 'Daniel Wise.'

My great grandma was Bridget Wyse, her mother was called Mary -maiden name Ryan.
Bridget had a brother called Daniel and they were from Limerick.
Might be a link there if they were visiting

I dont have any info on the ryans or on Daniel other than the 1901 census that has him living on
Williams Lane, Limerick No. 6,

You have posted on a 14 year old thread and the OP (goretti) hasn't been online here since January 2013.
