Title: Perthshire Newspapers Early 1900s
Post by: ostler on Thursday 08 April 10 12:59 BST (UK)
Hi all

Can anyone tell me if they've come across a newspaper for the Longforgan area about 1916? I've got a great great uncle who drowned age 13 in a quarry near Errol, chances are it'd be included in a paper.

Try the A K Bell Library, Perth. They have local newspapers and would probably look it up for you if you have the date.

What's the name of your g g uncle? Errol would be covered by either the Perthshire Advertiser or the Courier, both of which are available in the A K Bell Library, but the index cards from the library have also been scanned onto Ancestry. I can do a lookup if you need.

Hi ostler

For the time period I think you would be looking at either the Perthshire constitutional
or the Peoples Journal.

Thanks for the help, folks.

Lauren, my great great uncle's name was Robert Brotherton Small. I think he was 15 when he drowned. If you could have a quick look for me, that'd be great!

Hi Ostler

I won't be in the A K Bell for a while, but if you like I can have a quick skiffy around Longforgan church yard tomorrow if you like.

That'd be great if it's not too much hassle... although I think I've been to Longforgan churchyard before and didn't find anything.

If you see any Smalls or Pauls let me know. :) If there are any Fife or Edinburgh cemeteries you'd like me to look through in return just let me know!

Wow,

Could someone check the card index for

Archibald CHALMERS

Kinfauns - St Madoes - Erroll area, would be before 1850.

Ostler,

There are 350 Smalls in the AK Bell index, 3 of them Roberts; I have messaged you about them :)
