Trying to reach DJ French

Accidentally came across your 2006 post referring to photo album of IV Hussars Lucknow 1925-1927 and the name PJ Harratt in the list of officers.

Would be most interested in obtaining copy of any photos you may have of this person or the regiment.

Thanks. Austin O'Connor

Hi Austin

You now have enough posts to send a pm.

If you look under an avatar there should be a bright green scroll if the other person is online, if it is pale green they are off-line but you can still send a message for them to see next time they log on.

Happy hunting

Hello Deb,
I was fascinated to find your post about your Grandfather's album because you list a K.J.Catto as one of the men in a photo you have?  K.J.Catto (Kenneth James Catto) was my Grandfather's brother.  I have no photos of him and would dearly like to see what he looked like.  I am piecing together his history and would love to find out more about how he is linked to your Grandfather.

What I do know is that K.J.Catto was in the 5th Lancers (Royal Irish) during WW1 then by the 1930's was in Kenya (4th Hussars).  He continued living in Kenya till his death in 1961.

Kind regards,
Charlotte Catto

Hi and welcome back.

There are sizing constaints on the forum so it might be better to correspond off-forum.

Please exchange email addresses via the personal message system, click on the clip-board looking icon under each users avatar to access this. If it is glowing bright green, there is a good chance the other chatter is on-line.

Your relative is listed in the book 'The Harp and Crown'  a History of the 5th Royal Irish Lancers.  He was awarded the MC ... the book is available online .. the photo reproduction in the printed version is not good so I prefer the ebook

My grandfather was a Bandsmanwith the 5th Lancers serving from 1906 to 1915.

Hi Dawn / DJ,

Many thanks for your last post.
It has been a while I know. My research into my family history ceased for a while, but am now resuming this research again   ;D

The link below is for AE Wass. His son, Reginald, was my grandfather and was raised in Lucknow.

Following your last post, I do not seem to have received any email correspondence.

Are the photos still available?

Kind regards

Hi DJFRENCH, CAPT. JD BIBBY was my father in law's grandfather. We have no photos of him in India and would be extremely grateful if I could share with you my email address if you would be so kind to send the photo over. Interestingly, James David Bibbys father, and grandfather also had spent time in India. Thank you in advance, Jordan. 11/12/2022
