On ancestry there's a tree with John Grayson birth c 1725 on it, could someone see if there's a baptism in Marr for him please. I've got some Marr baptisms, but the earliest is 1729.
Thanks Janet

Do you have any idea where?

By the look of the posting in Yorks WR and by some of the surnames given I would be amazed if this did not refer to the hamlet of Marr west of Scawsby (Brodsworth) Doncaster. Grayson is not uncommon in the area.

It is Marr near Doncaster. I've got the Doncaster family history society Marr baptisms, but the earliest recorded is 1729 & the one I need is c1725.

Hi Janet,
There are Bishop Transcripts for Marr and these for 1718-1840 are included in the IGI.

Hi Maidmarion,
Thanks for looking, I'm going to the archives next week & hopefully they'll have copies of the BT's.
Cheers Janet

Just a suggestion from one who is very familiar with the area, if you fail on Marr then why not try the neighbouring parishes i.e. Brodsworth, Hickleton, High Melton and Sprotbrough? You never know, the baptism might have taken place there.
