Hi Mike Find a posting by the member you want to contact, click on their username at top left of their post, move down the page with their details on it till you come to "send this member a private message"

Hi Mike,
Welcome to Rootschat.
You need at least two more posts before you can "PM" celia. Just reply back with a couple of smilies.

The posts have to be on another subject :) The number will stay the same if you just reply to this one.

Posts count anywhere - except on TOT and the Lighter Side - so replying to this one is fine. Andrea

It was one originally when he first posted the topic. It is now three as he has made two further posts. Andrea

Sometimes seems to work after 2 posts but the Help pages do say 3 posts ;)

A little mistake in the help pages, methinks :)

No, sometimes new members need 3 posts so to be on the safe side 3 is probably best :)

Oh that's strange. I tested it myself, and discussed it with several newbies and everyone concurred it was actually 2. I must have spoken to the lucky ones then ;D

Agree with Tati ! :) :)
The little green scroll (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/Themes/history/images/im_on.gif) is always activated after two posts, might be an idea to amend the help pages.

I have found RootsChat to be quite complicated. I am anxious to contact a member who has information on my family, but I am not allowed to do so without more posts. I cannot find where to post. The ability to post should be simplified.

As has been pointed out already, and oftmals before,
... sometimes you need 2 messages and ... sometimes you need 3 messages to activate the PM system.
At the moment I can't change the help pages, so can we simply agree that we need 3 messages to be sure of activating the system ..... PLEASE !!!
;D Bob
