could you give us more to go on - dates, first names etc.? Tell us what you already know to avoid duplication of information.

Thank you both for replying - Wiiliam (born c1800- 69) married Mary Robinson (born c1800-74)  - son 1.  Robert (c1837-78) married Charlotte (c1838-79) and ?2. Boyce (c1841-1909) married  Henrietta Davis (1833-1920)  no children

Robert & Charlotte had 4 children and I have the info from then on.  I am trying to research back from William c1800.

Many thanks

I'm afraid you will have great difficulty tracing anyone back before 1800 in Ireland. Civil registration didn't start untill 1864 (1845 for non catholic marriages). Church records are not available online for Laois and even if they were they are rarely available for dates earlier than 1800.

Hi Danishdots,

I have access to do lookups in the Catholic records for Raheen Parish and can confirm that there are not Deverells (or variants) recorded in either the Baptismal or Marriage Registers.
For the earliest generation that you DO know about, where were they living, what parish were they in and what religion were they?  All of this would help us to narrow down the possibilities for you.

Good luck with your research - I hope it is fruitful.

Susan

Thanks for taking the time to reply.  The Deverells were Church of Ireland - sorry I should have said.

We can now get back to William (born c1800) - married to Mary Robinson from?Bloomfield Cross - he died 1869.  His son Robert c1837 -1878 married Charlotte Wilkinson c1838 - 1879.

Would like to find out who William & Mary's parents were.

My good wishes and thanks,

Danishdots :)

On a list of gravestone inscriptions at Dunamaise Holy Trinity Churchyard, there are several Deverell entries which appear to match your family.

Information removed due to copyright restrictions of website. Please see the link below for details

I hope this is of some help.
Kind Regards,

Many thanks Susan - as I said in a previous post we have details back William born circa 1800, but cannot link him to one of the several Deverells in Queens Co & Kings County.  Will have to make a visit to look at the registers of the church at the Rock of Dunamaise - (the views there are wonderful).  I will post anything I come across.

Again thanks to all who have taken time to reply!

Thank you Jack2227!

Several people from the US & Australia have been in touch with us looking for a Thomas Deverell - but we have never been able to make the connection OR say where he went after leaving Laois - so this is very interesting - many thanks :)

Thank you for that.  We know of those 'Deverells' but we can find no link to the Raheen/Ballycarrol 'Deverells' and the Geashill/Annaharvey 'Deverells'.

Good wishes :)
