Title: French birth certificates
Post by: genealogynetwork on Thursday 01 April 10 18:16 BST (UK)
How do you go about requesting a French birth certificate if you do not have the father or mothers name. The only information that you may provide is the person for whom the certificate was issued?  Is this an impossible task?

For France the most important thing is to know WHERE the person was born.  Records are held locally so you have to know that.  If you do and not too common a name and you have an idea of date, then hopefully not too much of a problem!  You need to write to the local Mairie for the information.
