Hi Paul,
Welcome to Rootschat.
I have found this entry on the free BMD
Crosby, Elizabeth E
Registered March quarter 1912 (she could have been born in 1911 but not registered until 1912)
Cannock 6b page 981 (Shareshill is not far from Cannock)
If you think this is your Elizabeth it would be worth applying for her birth certificate. This will give you her date of birth, name of her father, his occupation, address and the full name of her mother.
Should this be the correct certificate you will then be able to search for her mother's death as you will have her full married name. It could be that she is buried at Shareshill. If you discover that this is the case let me know as I do visit this churchyard.
I have found a death entry on free bmd for Edith Crosby aged 21
Registered in the December quarter 1911 at Cannock 6b page 592. You will really need to obtain the birth certificate for Elizabeth to be sure that Edith is her mother.
There is also a marriage of an Edith Smith to possibly a James P. Crosby
December quarter 1910 Cannock 6b page 967.
Again the birth certificate will give you the answer as to whether these entries are the correct ones.
Good luck.

Hi,
I had an Uncle Herbert Crosby who lived in Elms Lane in Shareshill,he was born around 1905? and died in 1980.
His mothers name was Rose Easter (or Kinson) and his Fathers name was William Crosby, he also has a cousin in Bridgetown called Thomas Crosby, please let me know if you think they may be relations of Elizabeth.
kind regards
Carol Crosby-Kinson

Hi Carol,
Welcome to Rootschat.
Having done some research into your Uncle Herbert I am not sure if he is related to the earlier Crosbys in this thread but you might find the information useful in your research.
I have found a marriage in 1908 for a William Crosby Kinson to a Rose Easter Jan/Feb/Mar District Cannock. County Staffordshire Volume 6b Page 621.
Birth of a Herbert Crosby Kinson in 1909 Jan/Feb/Mar District: Cannock County: Staffordshire Volume:6b Page:530
1871 Census RG10/2923/23/8
Reg Distrct Penkrige Sub- Brewood Civil Parish Featherstone.
Address Featherstone Cottage, Featherstone.
Kinson, Henry Head M Aged 47 Staffs
Kinson, Mary Ann Daugher F 18 Staffs
Kinson Alice, Daughter F 9 Staffs
Kinson Agnes, Daughter F 7 Staffs
Kinson William, Son M 5 Staffs.
Question. Could this William Kinson be William Crosby Kinson? and his sister Alice Kinson be the wife of William Crosby who married in 1882 in the district of Wolverhampton. This would make Thomas listed below and Herbert above cousins. I think applying for the marriage certificate of William Crosby Kinson and Rose Easter would help to find out the names of the respective parents. The James P could be the link to the earlier Crosby's in the thread. The only way to be sure of all this would to be apply for the relevant certificates.
1901 census Address Laney Green, Saredon

Wow! thankyou for your reply,
Thomas and Herbert were definately cousins, my great Granny married William Crosby, but somehow the name was changed to Crosby-Kinson? I cant find out why?
My Great Grannies maiden name was Easter?
how did you find this information so fast?
Thankyou very much!

Hi Carol,
I am glad that the information is relevant to the knowledge you have of your family.
I have tried to find a birth certificate for William Crosby Kinson but no luck so far. The key is to apply for the certificates i think. I have also details of the 1861 Census for Henry if you would like it - I have also found his marriage I think.

Thankyou so much for your help.
The birth certificate of William would just be in the surname Crosby, as the Kinson was added after he married Rose.
Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Carol,
1861 Census
RG09/1983/23/13
Reg. District: Penkridge: Sub District: 3 cannock
Parish: Hatherton
Address Hatherton.
Kinson Henry Head M 38 Agricultural Labourer. born Shareshill
Kinson Harriet wife aged 31 born Hatherton
Kinson Mary A daughter, aged 8 born Hatherton
Kinson Lucy A daughter aged 3 born Hatherton
Possible marriage: Henry Kinson - Harriet Wollaston - District Penkridge Year 1848
Jan/Feb/March Volume 17 Page 141
I think William Crosby Kinson must have changed his name for his marriage rather than after, as the marriage is registered in that name and not William Crosby.
I have sent you a private message (pm). You can access this by clicking on the messages section to the right of your name at the top of the page.
