I am descended from the le Strange family of Knockyn (Knockin) Castle and would like to know when it was built, I know it is not there now. I thought it was built in the time of king Henry 11 but I have info. that John le Strange died in the castle in 1237.
I am also enquiring into Hunstanton Hall in Norfolk another of the le Strange family strongholds.

King William,
I live a stonesthrow from the parish of Knockin and used to travel through it every day on bike on my way to my place of work on the Lands of Heathwaen Issa.
The castle doesn't stand today, but there is the mound still remaining.
