Title: Newspapers in Dublin
Post by: jccollins on Monday 29 March 10 16:44 BST (UK)
Can someone please tell me what newspapers were around Dublin in the 1890s through around 1910.  In particular, did Dublin south (Rathmines area) has its own newspaper?  I am looking for death notices.

Thanks for any information.

there were many papers published in Dublin at that time (there's a long list included in directories of the time) - but probably the best place to check would be the National Library as they have a large collection in binders and on microfilm - see the index at : Newspapers Index (http://www.nli.ie/en/newspapers-catalogues-and-databases.aspx)

there is one paper (that I've never heard of before) listed that covers some of the dates you mention that seem to specialize in Rathmines  :

 Rathmines News and Dublin Lantern
 Dec. 14, 1895 - May 25, 1907

Other city based newspapers would be worth checking also - e.g. Times, Freemans, and the Independent (from 1904) etc. note - some families did not post many notices in the papers
