Hello,
I wonder if anyone could help me with a marriage look up in Wood Ditton?
The details are :
Ann Bradford (b.1806 Westley Waterless) m. Robert Simpkin (Simkin) 8th November 1827 in Wood Ditton .
What I was hoping to see was any witnesses / otp / or any other information.
Any help very much appreciated
Many thanks

Hello and thank you to both of you!! :)
What I'm trying to do with this information is to confirm (as far as is possible) that I have the right family for Ann Bradford.
There are two possibilities I think, though it's so confusing, all these villages were so close together. If she was born in Westley Waterless or Burrough Green, would she be otp when she marries in Woodditton? I know they were all close.
The two possibilities are :
Ann Bradford c. 9 September 1806 Westley Waterless father Richard mother Letitia. This is the family I believe it is, because in all the census from 1851-71 she states her place of birth as Westley, Cambs.
But the witness at the marrige, William, has made me doubt ... as the other option is :
Ann Bradford b.3 Oct 1806 Burrough Green father William mother Mary.
I do know however, that The first Ann had a brother named William, b. 1804 in Westley, so equally this could be her brother as witness.
I expect as so often, I can never know for sure. But does it seem reasonable to go with the first family? Any opinions / help appreciated as always

Hi Emma
There are a couple of trees on Anc****y, who have her parents down as Richard Bradford and Leticia Jaggard :-\

Hello Ricky, thank you
Yes this is the family I have tended to go with, Richard and Letitia / Lettice / Leticia. They were married in 1803 and had William in 1804, Ann 1806. I'm almost sure this is the right family ???
Almost ::)

Hi Emma,
Its not going to be easy trying to find out which is the right family or not ;)

Just been looking to see if the witnesses throw up any clues, and they dont ???

Hiya Ricky,
thank you for helping. It's not going to be easy no :( but the more I go over things, the more I favour the first Ann, father Richard, with the witness at her wedding being her older brother William.
I guess it's another one where I will have to settle for 70% ish sure ... ish, maybe ;) but I will keep looking

Hi, I have the CD for Westley Waterless and can confirm that Ann Bradford was baptised 9/9/1806. Parents Richard and Letitia;siblings William 8/11/1804;Richard 11/6/1809. Anything else you want to know about Westley Waterless just let me know and I will look it up for you. My ancestors came from this village.
regards.

Hello paco and thank you very much that's great.
I'm fairly certain now that this is the right family. I think there were a lot of Bradfords in Westley, but it's such a small place, they must have been the same extended family. I think she is the only one who fits the dates and her stating Westley as her birth-place in all the census.
Thank you again :) :)

There are quite a lot of them on the CD.

Do you think they are from the same family? Is there anything for Richard Bradford b. 1777 I think, possibly father Walter and mother Ann?
Thank you for your help paco

No, I am afraid there isn't a Richard Bradford baptism on Westley Waterless CD. I think he might have come from Dullingham, Cambridge as there is a Richard Bradford baptised there 9/1/1777, and a marriage to Leticia Jaggard at Dullingham 14/12/1803. There is a Walter and Ann Bradford family on WW CD with children between 1744 and 1756, so could be an earlier connection. Children are Thomas 15/4/1744;Walter 12/5/1745;Elizabeth 8/12/1751;Matthew 8/2/1756.

Thanks so much paco for taking the time to help me!
May I ask if it says who the parents of Richard Bradford (1777) Dullingham are? And any witnesses at the marriage to Leticia?
Thank you once more

Parents of Richard Bradford were Walter and Ann.
Witnesses to the marriage of Richard and Leticia were Mary Bridge;Sarah Bradford and Thomas Chapman.
Richard and Leticia had a son called Richard who was baptised on the 11th June 1809 WW, but he died, and was buried on the 22nd November 1809.
Richard Bradford senior died aged 34 years on the 26th November 1810, and was buried 29th November 1810 at St Augustine, Burrough Green, Cambs. It says of Westley, so I am pretty sure it is him. I found all of this info. on findmypast.

Hello,
I am also seeking further information on the Bradfords of Westley Waterless. The lady in question is Anne Bradford born c 1782 (Westley Waterless) who married George Radford on 2 Jan 1803 in Westley Waterless. Any further information through birth dates or their marriage is greatly appreciated. They appear to have settled in Brinkley to raise their family.
Thanking you in advance.
Minnie :)

Witnesses to Ann and George's marriage on the 2/1/1803, were Sarah Blaydon and Walter Bradford. (Her brother probably) Ann had 12 siblings one of which was a Walter, and I can e-mail their baptisms to you if you would like them.
Ann's parents were Walter Bradford and Elizabeth Taylor-she came from Burrough Green. They were married on the 12/10/1774 Westley Waterless, and witnesses to the marriage were John Bailey and Thomas Bradford.
Walter Bradford was baptised in Westley Waterless on the 12/5/1745. His parents were Walter Bradford and Ann Cole and ther were married in Westley Waterless on the 17/10/1743.
Regards.

Hello again,

Your help has been fantastic!

The Walter Bradford marriage for 1729 on findmypast was to an Ann Smith of Horseheath-not Elizabeth. Haven't been able to find a marriage for that time period to an Elizabeth elsewhere either.
