Bit of a long shot but I am looking for a death record for a Jean Wallace who was born in Melrose, Scotland and emigrated to Auckland with her son George. She must have died after 1970. Any help would be most welcome.

What was her date of birth, please?
Annie

Hi Annie , I have very little information on Jean Wallace and am not sure of her exact dob but must be circa 1900 to 1930.She may have been married to a George Wallace who pre-deceased her in Melrose.

There are quite a few deaths that could be her.............
Maybe she also remarried in Auckland?
Annie

I have no idea if she remarried but she may have been living in Point Chevalier.
-
Any middle name or maiden name? There are 16 Jean Wallace between 1970 and 2010.

* Where does this address come from ?
* How do you know that she may have been living at Pt. Chevalier ?
* Why do you say "she must have died after 1970" ?
* How do you know she emigrated to New Zealand (and to Auckland in particular) ?
* What do you know about her son George ? (Do you have a year of birth for him ?)
;)

Jean Wallace was my fathers aunt , she married a George Wallace and had a son also called George. Going by other dates that I have she must have been born pre 1920 . The address comes from an old address book in my mothers possession. My father told me many years ago that she emigrated to NZ . I was hoping that a death record would give me her maiden name which I could then use to find her marriage on Scotlands People.

Would it not be better to get George Jnr birth record, this will show her maiden name and date and place of marriage.

So George snr is your fathers Uncle ?
-
Yes George snr is my fathers uncle, both are now dead so no source of information there. I have tried to obtain George jnrs birth certificate but it is not available online. Will now try another line of enquiery.

Go back to George Snr family and build some info, maybe there are some notices..middle names etc.
By going backwards a bit you may find on family tree sites some other researchers who may have some more info

..... but she may have been living in Point Chevalier.
You might like to try this ?
Link to telephone directories (all of New Zealand) > >
http://yellow.co.nz/whitepages/
[Enter surname "WALLACE" + "Point Chevalier" (in Where box). ]
5 listings are returned for surname ... amongst them a G. WALLACE. ??
Do any of the Point Chev. addresses, match the one you have ?

Hello, my name is Kathryn Wallace.
My father is the George Wallace you seem to be looking for.
My granny was (Jean) Jane Wallace, she actually married William Anderson Rutherford Wallace not George Wallace and never re-married after he passed away.
Please let me know anything else you would like to know.

Hi Kathryn
Your father was my fathers cousin . My father was Jack Hastie. My paternal grandmother was Isabella Wallace ( married to William Hastie ). Once you have replied to this post we will be able to exchange private messages .

Mum and dad thought it might be you! :)
They told me you made contact with them last year but since i randomly came across this message board i thought i should find out who was looking for us!
If you want to know more about the Bakehouse i am sure dad would be able to help, he knows a lot about our family history and Melrose in general, he was helping a friend do some research on the town not so long ago.
Mum and dad have moved to the Bay of Islands (3 hours north of Auckland) since you last spoke to them, as they are both originally from small towns and having lived 10 years in London and nearly 30 in Auckland it was time for a change! their phone number is different but email is still the same if you need to get in touch.
Regards,
Kathryn

Hi
My grandmother was Henrietta Hastie, Jack Hastie's sister. Would love to know more about the Hastie side if you have any information.
:)

Hi Lucy
I have a lot of info about the Hastie family going back to the 19th century in Tweedmouth , Berwick on Tweed. It would be too much to post here. Send me a private message and we can exchange emails so that I can send you all my information.

Hi Mike,
Lucya85 will need to add two more posts to her post-count to activate her Personal Message facility.
Just reply twice with a smiley, Lucya85. Then Mike can contact you and you can exchange emails, etc.
Pleased you both made contact with each other.
Happy hunting,
