Hi, can anyone read the address where Bridget Devlin died?
Appreciate your help.
Janet

Could it be 7 Drummers Cott Greenock?
I would have taken Cott to be an abbreviation of Cottages
-
just had another look, and it could also be Drummers Close.
Hopefully someone else knows a bit about the addresses in the area
-
yes I thought drummers close....but cant find any record of that street!!
-
Just googled, and there was a Drummers Close in Greenock. I just put in Drummers Close Greenock and up it came. Problem is it's on someone's genealogy site that immediately starts playing would be Scots muzac, so turn your sound control down first! Hope that helps

I was just about to post 7 Drummers Close Greenock too. ;)
A picture here:

One site mentions it thus:
"a narrow lane, afterwards called " Drummer’s Close".

Ruskie, that's brilliant - such a good photo, completely evocative. Wonderful site, I'm going to have a browse through
Janet, bet you weren't expecting a photo as well!
-
Thank you so much!!! I have been too busy looking at maps!!....what an idiot I am!!
Brilliant photo.........thanks again :)
-
You're welcome Janet. The photo says it was taken from Dalrymple Street. If you look at Dalrymple Street Greencock on google maps, you will see that the whole area is newish builds or car parks, so I imagine Drummer's Close would be long gone. :-\

sorry if this link doesn't work, if you google Duff street Greenock and click on the map and zoom in
until you see Duff Street

Wonder when Drummers Close was built and how old it is in the photograph. Looks a wee bit scarey to me.
-
not sure if the plaque say's anything on it
I will check next time I am there
sorry I am just getting a bit side tracked with one of the
other deaths on the same page
the Mary Hallom one I have been looking for a Mary Carroll
who was a witness to one of my Given marriages
and looking at the way Carvel is written on that cert and the fact her mothers name is Given
I think its possible there could be a link to my Given's
Thank you Janet for posting that cert
