Hi Wozzle,
Thank you for the quick reply. That was amazing.
I now need to find the death of Sarah Pocock, Benjamin's wife.It must be between 1822 and 1830 are there any records where I could find that.
Many thanks,
Dasher

do you know her birthdate roughly
there is a sarah pocock who was buried at st.marys lambeth on the 21st march 1830
she was aged 48 and was living at andersons walk at the time of death
a bit close to the remarriage of benjamin but this is the only one i can see that might possibly be her
lambeth and newington i believe are not that far apart
-
Hi Wozzle,
Benjamin did live in Anderson Place so it looks to be the right one.Sarah's Dinnage she was born Horsham in Sussex about 1786 so the age is near.Thank you very much for the work you have done.Could you tell me what resource you are using.Do have to buy it or can it be viewed online.
My next step is to try and find Benjamin's birthplace. Ropley Hampshire looks favourite as there is a Benjamin there 28/09/ 1794

Hi Wozzle,
Thank you ever so much this has been my brick wall for a long time.I don't know if the Ropley baptism for Benjamin Pocock is the right one.Just the dates and parents names seem right.I would love to find out but not sure how to do that. If William Pocock of Ropley was a Farrier as well that might narrow the odds.
Benjamin's son William was baptised 23/11/1817 at Horsham Sussex. The third son James I have never heard of.Until I obtained the 1841 census return I didn't know he existed.I have tried to find him in the I.G.I but couldn't.Their sister Anne was baptised at Horsham11/06/1820 I have no idea what happened to her either.
I would like to take you up on your kind offer for further research. I am descended from the other son George. His son William George came up to Newcastle-upon- Tyne in the late !800's.
Thanks a lot.

cannot seem to find them after this census entry
when did your direct line william george come up to newcastle
also what was the name of his wife and children and ages if known
-
Hi Wozzle,
Thanks again for all the work you have done on my behalf.
I cant find them in the 1871 census either.I can find William George,s wife Caroline Lloyd in the 1871 RG 10/638 56 31 Southwark but it is such a bad copy I can hardly make any detail out.Interestingly though the person above her in the census is an Ellen George.
William George is my direct ancestor he married Caroline Lloyd 11/04/1873 St Mary's Lambeth. Witness's were William Lloyd and M Lloyd.Father George Lloyd engineer and William Lloyd compositor.
William George had quite a lot of children some in London, Teeside and Newcastle.I dont have any baptisms for the children but the birth are as follows.
William Edward (my grandfather) 7/11/1873 2 Little Surrey st Southwark,Caroline abt1876,Violet abt 1877,James Benjamin 1878 Lambeth,Richard George 1880,Elisabeth Jane 07/01/1882 38 Cator St Peckham,Herbert Ernest26/10/1883 7Lennox st Middlesborough,Alice Lousia abt 1885 Middlesborough,Then there is a big gap.A possible Robert abt 1890 Newcastle,Arthur Ernest 1892 Newcastle, Margaret Ethel 1895 Byker Newcastle.
Willliam George died 1902. Caroline Lloyds grandfather was a flutemaker from Holborn I noticed you have interests there.
By the way my granny always reckoned we were related to Charles Dickens.I don't place any credibility on it but there seems to be lots of Lloyds in the printing trade in that area.
I hope this answers your email if not please contact me.

Hi Dasher
I chanced upon one of your requests about George Pocock of Andersons Walk by chance today and have just joined RootsChat to pass on my info:
My grandmother Elizabeth Taylor (nee Leamman) had a daughter Ann Taylor BP 03/10/1824 who married George Pocock who lived in Andersons Walk. I will have to check but George Pocock was listed as a barge builder if I remember correctly. Marriage date? About the 184-50's
Do you still require information about him and Andersons Walk?
