I have an ancestor discharged from the 78th Regiment of Foot in 1833 "under the conditions prescribed in Articles 4 and 47 of the Regulations annexed to the King's Warrant of the 14th. November 1829".
Can any of you clever people tell me what articles 4 and 47 say?

I can tell you it was the Army Pensions Regulations, but not what the exact sections were.
Pete.

Many thanks, Pete Keane, for your prompt and knowledgeable reply. Makes sense, for according to his discharge papers, in spite of 21 years and 91 days of service with good conduct and character, because the discharge is at his own request he relinquishes all claim to pension. Tough!

Particularily tough if he was signed on for 22 years!
Interesting to see where the Regt. were, or maybe were being posted to, at that time.
cheers
Pete
