Hi all, Joel Ebdon and Susannah Boon were married at Thorncombe on 21 Sep 1815.
Am trying to work out which of 2 Susannahs she could be;
1, born to James and Betty Boon on 23 Nov 1792,
or born to Ben and Mary on the 01 Jan 1798.
I also have a marriage of james Boon and Elizabeth Cranton on the 24 Jan 1798 to confuse things.
All of the above from the Thorncombe Parish register.
Any help greatly appreciated,
cheers, Lance

Hi,
On the Thorncombe page of the Dorset OPC there is also this baptism:
23 Dec 1792 Susannah base born daughter of Betty Boon (no mention of James)
Can you find Joel and Susannah on any census? What age was given for Susannah when she died?

Joel died in about 1833,Susannah re-married simon Rowe of Thorncombe in 1834 and they emigrated to NZ in 1841.
I just checked on the NZ BDM site under Row, Ebden and Boon, the only match was Row but it didn't have an age at death

was hoping that childrens names might help

Hi, think I made a blue about Joel's death being in 1833, 1826 ties in with the birth in 1794 I found.
Simon, born 1826 is on the passenger list of the boat that the family came out on, the Tyne.
The previous kids are in the Thorncomb OPC births under Epton.
Thought I had aresult on the IGI for Susan Boon the other night, but can't find it again, cheers, Lance

Susannah was apparently 39 yo when she emigrated to NZ on the "Tyne" in 1841, cheers, Lance

Hi everyone, My husband is descended from Elizabeth Ebdon, the daughter of Joel Ebdon and Susannah Boon. After Joel died (about 1835), Susannah remarried to Simon Rowe and emigrated with their mixed family to New Zealand aboard the Tyne in 1841. They settled near Wellington on the Waiwetu district. Susannah, along with two of her sons, was raided by Maoris and lost everything. She died on 01 May 1856 and is buried, I think, in the Bolton Street Cemetery.

Hi, George Ebden, son of Susannah and Joel, married Susan Osbourne who was adopted by the Prouse family and came to Wainuiomata in 1840 on the "Duke of Roxburgh".
George and Susan's daughter, Susan married John Eades who is my Gt grandfather.
The Eades family came out on the "Alma" in 1857.
Wondered the Ebdens might have been buried, thought they might be at Haywards

Hi, I also have info on the other 2 Ebdons - William died on 13 June, 1889 at Pipitea St, Wellington and Simon died 5th Feb 1870 at a hospital in Melbourne, Australia. On Williams'marriage certificate (he was married to Elizabeth Cecilia Overton), his father's name is down as Joyerle - I think it was probably his Devon way of pronouncing Joel but the registrar got it mixed up. Elizabeth married Robert Neill from Edinburgh. They settled in Wainuiomata and had many children. 2 of their daughters married Collis brothers - another Wainuiomata family. My husband is descended from Elizabeth and Robert's daughter Clara.
