Hi
Can anyone tell if there is a archive for roman catholic priests? Looking for someone possible ordained into priesthood in the 1940s.
Have no idea where to start looking. ???
Thankyou

Burns & Oates published an annual directory of all the Catholic Priests in England and Wales - I have a copy for 1959 if you wish to give me a name. The information is fairly sparse - just name and address, but there is also a list of the parishes and churches - so it's possible to find where each priest was working.

Hi
Thankyou very much for your offer. I didnt have a clue where to start. The name is Francis de Rosa (born 1920 in Chorlton,Manchester) so expect wouldnt of entered priesthood till at least 18 if not many years later. If you could check for me I would be very greatful. Unfortunately it is only would of mouth that he became a priest and am not certain in what area.

According to the 1959 Catholic Directory, the only entry for de Rosa is a Peter de Rosa who was at 7, Cheyne Row, Chelsea SW3 - he was a priest at the Church of Our Most Holy Redeemer and St Thomas More, Cheyne Row.
A relation possibly?

Hi
Thankyou for that. I dont know for sure. I will have to look in my notes and see what other names are in. As I say it was word of mouth that Francis de Rosa became a priest.
