What I have is a death notice for W.O. Clazy, writer, treasurer of the Kilmacolm Golf Club, youngest son of Rev. George Clazy, Paisley, september 1906 and an RS Clazy who died in 1944 whose name is on a war memorial in Kingskettle. RS Clazy was survived by his wife Helen Mary Margaret...of Kilmacolm. What I would like to know is if W.O. married and the maiden name of Helen Mary Margaret and were there any children of either union?
Any help most appreciated.

Hi Sharon
The 1901 census has William O Clazy living in Duchal St Curse,Kilmalcolm (Ref - 569 ED 2 Page 15)

It doesn't look as if he married to 1901. You would get the full info from his death cert that can be viewed online at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
William Oliver Clazy died in Blytheswood RD, Glasgow, 1906, aged 35.
Robert Smith Clazy (b. 1869) married Helen Mary M Wilson, Edinburgh, St Giles in 1931. You can get the cert in the same way from Scotlands People

Thank you so very much. I had a copy of a letter Robina wrote in response to a query about family history from Dr. Peter Clezy, Australia, in 1935 and in it she had stated that she was the only surviving child of the Rev. George Clazy but no details. The certificates will be wonderful.

Hello Sharon,
My name is David Robert Clazy and I am the grandson of Robert Clazy and Helen Clazy (as she was at the time).
I was brought up in Balmalcolm, where my Granny (Helen) had lived and worked her whole life. My grandfather (who I never knew) was killed 5 days after D-Day, serving as a Lieutenant in The Black Watch, and is buried in Hermanville, France.
They had two sons - Michael George (my father 1933-1991) and David Rowat (my father's younger brother 1936-1941) who died in childhood.
My Granny (Helen) passed away in 2001, buried in Perth, and my father passed away in 1991, having seen service in Korea as a Captain in The Black Watch, buried in Kingskettle.
I hope this helps fill in some of the gaps.
Regards, David.

Hi David,
I’m a distant cousin of Sharon Spry, who died in 2015. I just saw your message at RootsChat. My tree shows Robert Smith Clazy (1908-1944) and Helen Mary Margaret Wilson (1910-2001). I think they might be your grandparents?
My great-great-great-grandfather was shown at birth as George Clezie, born in 1787 at Hutton, Berwickshire, southern Scotland. He migrated to Canada, way back in 1832. Clezie was one of the spellings used then, along with Clazy - Clazie - Clazey - Clezy.
I would very much enjoy getting in touch to exchange more information about the family. But if we put email addresses here they might get deleted. I’ll try anyway and see what happens.
