Hello Ivor,

Are you looking for early information on James, or more recent info on the family ( children of James).

Possible James on 1841 and 1851 Scotland census. 1861 onwards UK census.

There is a possible Mary Emily on 1911 census.

Best wishes

Hi Ivor .   Yes that's correct  . Joseph Weigh and Maria Mc Robie had  a son and daughter . The son Edwin Mcrobie Weigh was my grandfather . He was born in Nantwich area in 1896 . I never met him he died before I was born .  I knew nothing of the McRobie Liverpool / Scotland connection until recently . It seems we are cousins .  Best Regards skeeter

the father James was an engineer - Liverpool was the busiest Port in the world at that time in the mid 1800's ...so he probably came for the money - or - if he was a Ships Engineer , he may have been transferred from Dundee ( another busy seaport) to Liverpool by the Shipping Company he worked for. I suppose we will never know ...looking at the addresses of Leece Street and Conway Street , he was quite comfortable money wise ... :)

It will amuse my son to find out his father has engineers and a master plumber as forebears . The practicality gene has passed me by .
