Title: Cheddar Parish Indexes
Post by: Liz in France on Sunday 14 March 10 17:51 GMT (UK)
Hi,

Does anyone know if there are any Cheddar Parish Records online?  I have a few anomalies in my Cooper family which need sorting out but they are quite late being 1869 to 1885.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Elizabeth, I take it you have had no joy.

Why not put a little info. forward and someone might be able to help?

Hi

Have you tried Yahoo group Somerset Hundreds (I think Cheddar is in Winterstoke Hundred). The site contains many transciptions of parish records

I agree with Steve that the Somerset Hundreds groups on Yahoo are very useful. I've joined several of them. However, I don't think that any Cheddar transcriptions are on there yet, although other members of the groups should be able to help you.

There's a few very early ones on FreeReg (1734 to abt 1775) - far too early for you but later ones appear to be in the pipeline.

Regards

Angela

Hi,

Thanks to all of you that answered my post.

I belong to Winterstoke Group and as Angela says, Cheddar is not on file yet.
I apologise for not answering before but I was caught up in the cancelled flight problems and had to spend an extra week away.

As soon as I have caught up with my mail, I will ask the questions I need answers to, both here and  on the Winterstoke Group site.

Thanks again,
Elizabeth
