Title: BULLEY Family~Exeter area
Post by: navyman on Saturday 15 May 04 08:18 BST (UK)
Hi Everyone ~ I am researching the branch of the BULLEY family that appears to originate in the Exeter area. I can get no further back than Ann Bulley who was born about 1812 in Exminster - parents unknown. She first appears in the 1851 Census at the St Thomas the Apostle Workhouse, Exeter. She is known to have had the following children by father or fathers unknown; Ann (1830 at Kenn), Henry (1835 at Kenn), George Thomas (1837 in Workhouse), Louisa (1940 in Workhouse), and John (1846 in Workhouse). All the children were given the surname Bulley.
I am completely stuck at this point and would really appreciate any help which would take me further back or fill in any gaps.
Many thanks
Navyman

Hi Navyman.
It might not help but the name Bulley was, and still is, very common in Plymouth. I read once that the name originated from there.
