the reg dist for kew is richmond
there is no william hart birth regd in this dist near the date of birth given the nearest is 1838
before 1875 it was estimated that between 6%-10% of births were not registered maybe your william was amongst that percentage?

Hi bbcitv

You have posted your topic on the Surrey Look Up Offers board. Do you wish me to move the topic to either the main Surrey board or the Surrey Look Up Board?

Also see this previous topic on what appears to be the same man.

I think this makes his birthdate around June 1844, no luck finding him elsewhere though.

Hi

Lambeth and Kew are over 9 miles apart and that's if you take the shorter route crossing the winding and semi looping river Thames on bridges that may not all have been in place in 1844. It would be a longer route if you stayed south of the river in the then Surrey, now all London.

William Hart consistently gives his birthplace as Kew but since he is difficult to find on the 1851 census it may be because he was born illegitimately and he appears in another surname on that census which is why it may be worth researching the details of the Hart family of Kew given on the other post particularly any older daughters.

I will move this post to the main Surrey board

Meaning he had already served in the army which was probably why he was in Newcastle under Lyme when he re-enlisted. You can track his previous service and his date of enlistment through the muster books of 1st Royal Regiment of Dragoons at The National Archives.
