Its certainly unclear after Google'ing it, but I would start at the Rangitikei District Council (http://www.rangdc.govt.nz). If they don't have the info, I'm sure they will know who does.

I see that is all they have on their web site, but have you asked?

Google threw up the "Rangitikei District Council - Hunterville Community Committee Meeting
Minutes – Monday 30 November 2009"

These mention the Hunterville (Rangitira) Cemetery, and seem to suggest some local management now. So perhaps it is no longer an in-use cemetery. That doesn't mean the council don't have the records. But if they don't, they should be able to give you a contact for the Community Committee.

Hi magnz

Yes, those are the cemeteries they have listed on their website, but have you actually contacted the Council and asked ?

Perhaps also contact Rangitikei Libraries ?

"Google" turns up a NZ website relating to war graves, which lists Rangitira Cemetery at Hunterville  ... maybe try that site to see if you can get a lead to who hold records ?

Do a search on Rootschat.

Seem to remember someone else was looking for burial records from Rangitira Cemetery just recently.

EDIT
Sorry it wasn't. Someone on the NZ group on Rootsweb was asking about it about a month ago. It is now a private cemetery apparently. No info on who she contacted in the end, except to say he was 'a lovely man'.

Although the Rangitikei District Council do not look after it, they may well know who does. Worth contacting them, as Lu says.

Hi Margaret

John's (1937) plot no is Block 4 Row A Plot 7  most of the others are also in Block 4 Row A. If you would like a photo of them I will check to see if there is a headstone, I know John buried in 1915 doesnt have one. John's plot was purchased by Stan Knuth and Moir's were the undertakers.

Let me know if you would also like 1954 & 1957 electoral details on the Knuths in Rangitikei.

Regards Robyn

Hi Robyn

Sorry for not replying sooner (I have been away) with a very big thankyou for the photos of Janet's headstone. I have a a distant cousin who has been searching for Janet and will be thrilled with these as I am.
You are a star!
Myra was not one of Janet's children, so no worries on that one.

Many thanks again.

Hi Corinna,
Welcome to Rootschat  :D

Your post has appeared on a board for 'completed' requests, so may have been overlooked.
I hope the following is some help.
Dalziell - Ada Lavinia  -d 19.10.1903 age 20, Rangatira Cemetery,
Dalziell - Alexander Richard Gardiner- d 27.11.1920  age N/R, Rangatira Cemetery,
Dalziell - Vivette Mabel Eugenie - d 14.9.1887, age 7, Rangatira Cemetery,
Dalziell - Davina Ethel - d 24.6.1886, age N/R, Rangatira Cemetery,
There are 9 other Dalziells at Rangatira.

Dalziell - Robert Gardiner - d 28.7.1946, age 75, Wanganui, Aramoho Cremations
Dalziell - Sarah Isabella Ethel - d 8.9.1965, age 89, Wanganui, Aramoho Cremations

If you want more information on the family, it would pay to start a new thread on the 'New Zealand' board.

Hi Corinna,

A warm welcome to RootsChat.

Rather than start a new topic on the main New Zealand Board I suggest that you continue using this topic for the time being. I will split off your enquiry and any other replies and move them across to the main New Zealand Board, creating an entirely new topic.

What title would you like for the new topic? DALZIELL family of Hunterville, perhaps? (it's a standard convention in family history to capitalize the surname to avoid confusion)

Let me know by replying to this topic.

By the way, once you have made three posts you will be able to use the Personal Message (PM) facility meaning you will be able to contact other RootsChat members direct and 'off-line'.
