Hello everyone,
I hope someone may be able to point me in the right direction. I have just found out that an ancestor of mine left Greenock, Scotland in 1928 bound for Quebec with his wife and children. His wife was Mary Whiteman and children William Henry Whiteman, aged 3 at the time and Mary Mooney Whiteman, aged 2. On the passenger list they gave a relation in Toronto of Harry Norton, lviing at 55 Salisbury Place or Street, can't remember which.
I also knew that Robert went to Canada, but no one ever mentioned he had children. I would dearly love to either trace them, or their family.
Does anyone know the best routes?
Thanks for your help.

You can try and find out if they stayed in the Toronto area by emailing the Toronto Public Library and using their Ask a Librarian feature to have them search their city directories for Robert G. Whiteman. If you find that they did stay in Toronto there is a good resource (pay site) Pages of the Past (Toronto Star newspaper). Because Ontario BMD records for this period are covered by privacy laws you won't be able to access any vital statistics for this family and finding newspaper entries will be your best route.
