Title: Dukinfield School?
Post by: madabout on Thursday 04 March 10 16:27 GMT (UK)
Have a old photograph most likely to include George Andrew Hurst born 1860. Early life was spent Dukinfield & he had a lot to do with the Old Chapel.
Any ideas if it is a Dukinfield School or Sunday School?

Hello Madabout
To me it looks like the photograph was taken outside the Old Chapel Church , Chapel Hill , Dukinfield as the church has stone walls like the photograph and the windows look like church windows . On the Tameside Local Studies website . local images section www.tameside.gov.uk and search under Old Chapel , there is a photograph of the  Old Chapel Sunday school and that looks like a brick built structure .
Regards
Eric :)

Hello again ,
May have to go back on m earlier comment . I went past the church today and the frontage is of smooth stone , not sure what is round the back though .
If my memory serves me right there was another Old Chapel in Dukinfield , now derelict . If I find anything else out when next in the local studies I will let you know .
Regards
Eric :)
