Hello Carol,
For births and marriages you need to search on the IGI (International Genealogical Index)
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp
When page opens click on IGI and then enter details of who you are searching for.
There are a number of results for the marriage of James Wright to Ann Spare, 12th December 1742 Measham,
however only one entry is from actual records this contains a batch number commencing with M, which you can
see on bottom left of Individual Record page, the batch number is actually M043973 all the rest are patron submitted items and must always be checked. Cannot see the marriage of his son, but it is quite possible that
this took place in the Brides Parish Church.
There are many Patron Submitted items for the Bpt of their Children, probably because the Bpt registers on
the IGI are from 1813 -1864, Marriages from 1755 - 1837. So you would need to examine the original registers
which are in the Leicestershire County Record Office, or order the filmed copy of these from a Latter Day Saints
Centre.
Details of what registers are deposited in the Record Office can be seen on:-

Thank you.
Are there any online indexes by any chance? I live
on the south coast and can't get to Leicestershire record office.
I'm trying to do this quickly for a cousin's surprise 80th birthday. Not as easy task.
Regards
Carol
