I am trying to find some info. on the above couple. I have John's Death Cert. He died in Melbourne Vic.1913. On the cert. it states he was a Sargeant Major, Drill Instructor, but I haven't been able to find anything in NAA. He was born in Gatton Qld in 1871 and his parents were John Skinner, Railway employee, and Agnes Fleming. They came to Melb. around 1900,and they had 4 children, only one survived, Jack Benjamin Skinner, who was born in 1905 in Ballarrat, Vic.

Hi Betty,
Are you able to tell us of the other children to John & Mary Emma Skinner.
I do understand they sadly did not live long, but knowing their birth and death places may be helpful in tracking the family.

Thanks again for your help...The only one to survive is Jacbenjamin Skinner, he was born in Ballarat in 1905, and married Edna Floence Thomas in 1928. They apparently had 2 daughters...these are the ones I can't find: June Regina Skinner, born 1929 and Myee Jacqueline,1930.
This search started all because I found Jack Be jamin was step -son of my Uncle Will Macleod ( his wife Mary Emma Crow/Skinner),died in 1952 and he and Mary Emma had no children of their own.
So TIA Betty S

I know what happened to Myee Jacquelyn Skinner, she married twice and died in Melbourne 1987.

Thanks for your reply, Randall....
I wonder if you can clear up another query....when I looked at John Ben WW2 records there seems to be 2 enlistments of J B Skinner. one is born in Port Pirrie and the other in Ballarat....I had been told "our" John B was born in B'rat....the 2 birth dates are also very close....so are there 2 J B Skinners?
(could'nt get much info. from war records as they have not been examined yet)...perhaps they are cousins?
