Title: Thomas Hawkins 1764 - Sutton or Castor
Post by: Kim_May on Sunday 28 February 10 02:31 GMT (UK)
Hello,

I seem to have found an ancestor who was born in Sutton around 1764 but every time i try to find him Im told to look in the Northanmptonshire records...then they tell me to look in Cambridgeshire...anyway I have found a few sites that have the parish records but not for the years I need. Can anyone help find Thomas Hawkins and his family in Sutton or Castor? I have called my local libraries but none have these particular parish records and this is my last try. It also seems that pay to view sites dont have these records either. Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Kim

There was more than one Sutton in England and I don't think it was the Cambridge one, which is 30 miles from Upton, which according to your post on the Northants board is where he married.

Very quick reference to Google maps shows that Castor, Upton and Sutton form a triangle in Northants, all no more a mile apart, so I'm pretty sure it's Sutton, Northants that you need.

Castor, Northants and Sutton Cambs baptisms have both been extracted onto the IGI. There are no Hawkins in Sutton Cambs, but quite a few in Castor, but of a much earlier generation.

Hopefully your post on the Northants board will get a result

Sutton Northants baptisms 1763-1812 have been filmed by the LDS so are available to order and view at your nearest LDS Family History Centre
