Phil,
Welcome, you've come to the best place there is.
The info. you have been given can be found via http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle where only information extracted from church records is to be found so there's none of the unattributed chaff found when searching via http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp

Phil,
According to the LDS library catalogue at http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=topicdetails&subject=393532&subject_disp=England%2C+Gloucester%2C+Lechlade+%2D+Church+records&columns=*,0,0 and the Lechlade records coming from the Hugh Wallis site, the film is that of the Bishop's transcripts.
It seems odd that the extractors of the baptism info. did not extract the marriage info. too. You'll find most extracted info. comes from BT's.
I'm going to an LDS FHC tomorrow and I'll ask why marriages are not always given when BT's are used for baptism extractions. I do not expect I'll find out why not so do not hold your breath :D No answer from me = no joy :D

hi, I am pretty sure that my William was born in 1805 according to census etc - but will double check facts.
-
Hi Compo
And welcome! :)
Are you taking the age from more than one census? They are notoriously inaccurate anyway but bear in mind that the 1841 census rounded-down the ages of those over age 15. Might make a difference?
Kind regards, Arranroots ;)

hi, Thanks for your comments about census - i have the names of his children which I think confirms which William it is !! however I was wondering if everyone filled in these old censuses or did some escape ?? Cheers Phil

Phil,
There were very many people who viewed census taking, especially the 1841, with suspicion so slept in the fields or a barn for a night ;D

Chatters,
Regarding the fact that marriages at Lechlade although given by BT's according to the LDS Library Catalogue, do not appear in any Batch of extractions, I typed an explanatory note and included a question asking why not.
I gave it to the LDS person supervising their FHC and he said he would try to find out but added that it might be because it wasn't done!
I've booked in for next week and if I get a decent answer I'll post a new message, else . . . . . .

Chas

Thanks Chas - you're a fount of information!
:)

Phil,
Following from my last:- else . . . . you'll need to hire the LDS film for marriages and baptisms might be in the HW site I quoted in my first message.
Regards
Chas
P.S.
Just had a phone call about the subject of marriages not extracted. Seems the answer is as expected - they were not included - so a search of the film it is :'( BUT there's always the possibility of a look-up be a kind visitor to Gloster R.O. :D
