Title: Info on an Irish Family Member killed in action
Post by: Georgie7372 on Friday 26 February 10 12:47 GMT (UK)
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Looking for information on Patrick Joseph Byrne, was in the Royal Engineers and died in action in Belgium in 1917.  Married to Anna Maria White, born c 1876, father also Patrick Joseph (1836-1880), no info on his mother, but I am led to beleive that he was born and raised in Dublin, although its possible he was living in Scotland when he joined up.

Not actually one of mine, am searching on behalf of an elderly rellie living in Australia so any help would be gratefully appreciated.

NB.  Have tried Ancestry and Genes with no luck

Hi,

His details are on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site:

http://www.cwgc.org

shown as son of Patrick and Bridget Byrne of Kiltegan, Co Wicklow; husband of Anna Maria Byrne of 242 Annathill, Glenboig, Lanarkshire

Hope that helps.

you might want to think about uploading some info about him to his Findagrave reference :

My gt grandfather died 3 weeks after your man but with 179th Tunnelling Co, Royal Engineers. We were able to get info re the circumstances of his death from the unit war diary.
