Hi
I wonder whether anyone has access to the electoral roles for the Grantham area, or a similar resource.
I am trying to establish who was living with the Wilson family in Londonthorpe, nr Grantham in the years preceding 1951. I have the death certificate for Thomas A E Wilson who died in late 1951. He appears to have lived at 17 Alma Park, Londonthorpe and i am trying to establish who lived with him, or who he was living with.
Can anybody please help me as i do not have access to records in Lincolnshire and i am trying to solve a family mystery.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Kathy I really appreciate that. If you can trace them in an obvious manner in any earlier years i would also be interested to see who was with him - i may be able to identify further deaths!
Getting a bit closer to solving my family mystery! I am hoping for some familiar names living with Thomas. I would also like to know where Thomas A E Wilson was buried - what is the cemetary local to Londonthorpe that would have been used in late 1951?
Thanks in advance.

Hi TB,
Have you a date or approx date of when Thomas died which could help me find his obituary in the Grantham Journal which (might) give family details.

Hi TB,
Have found the address in 1950 where Thomas Albert Edwin Wilson,Edwin A Wilson & Dora Wilson lived it was 17,Oak Drive Alma Park.
I have not found his death reported in the Grantham Journal.I will try and find where he is buried and let you know.
I did find the following Wilsons all living in the same area are they yours.
!949. WILSONS.
Douglas P & Rose Marie 20,Harrowby Hall Estate.
*Edwin A & Dora (BUT NO THOMAS A E WILSON?)17,Oak Drive Alma Park
Leonard & Ada M 1,Londonthorpe
Sidney,Susan M ,Reginald,SidneyG & Raymond. 20,Londonthorpe
George H & Joyce I 68,Arnhem Drive Alma Park.
1950.
Same as above except Douglas P & Rose Marie lived 16,Warren Drive Alma Park.
+ Leslie J & Jean Wilson lived 80 Arnhem Drive Alma Park.
1953.
John S & Audrey F.M lived 84 Arnhem Drive.
The houses in Alma Park have all been pulled down to make way for a new housing estate & Industrial units.

Thank-you very much.
The connection of Thomas A E Wilson to Dora was what i was looking for.
From the information that you have told me it would like as if Thomas Albert Edwin Wilson's wife Jane Elizabeth Wilson had already died (i need to try and establish when!). I am also not sure where Dora's husband is - Thomas Edward (sometimes Edwin) Wilson - although he did not die until 1975.
If you can spot them on any earlier census' i would be grateful. I believe that Dora and her husband were in Baston Fen, Baston Road in March 1944 as they had a child there.
This is a great help - this family previously lived in Nuneaton, Warwickshire where i lost them after 1935 when it appears that Thomas E Wilson (son of Thomas A E Wilson) moved with his family to Lincolnshire as part of the war effort. All of the family were noted on the electoral role at that time and so i need to trace the family thereafter. the link to Lincolnshire was all circumstantial and all the circumstances are adding up fortunately!!!
Thanks again i look forward to anything that you can find out for me.
Regards

Hi TB
Just a query can you tell me what year Thomas A E & Jane Elizabeth married?so that gives me a guide to which years to find her death up to 1950.
I will not be in the library until Sat but will have a look.

Hi again
Thomas A E Wilson (born 1879) and Jane Elizabeth Storer (born 1879) married in 1903 in Attleborough, Nuneaton. Their son, Thomas E Wilson married Dora in Hinckley, Leics in 1931. They then all lived together in Nuneaton until at least 1935, when i lose them, as they appear to have moved to Lincolnshire as i think Thomas E Wilson joined the war effort. The first evidence i have of them there is in 1944 in Baston Fen when a daughter was born to Thomas E Wilson and Dora.
Whilst it looks like the father Thomas A E Wilson came with them i am not sure if the wife Jane Elizabeth did - finding them on the electoral rolls after 1935 may help!
Thanks for your help - any assistance is greatly received.

Hi
I just checked the actual death certificate - Thomas A E Wilson died on 8th October 1951 (not the 9th Dec as i was originally told). His son Thomas E Wilson was the informant and lived at 17 Oak Drive. The place of death was 17 Oak Road, Alma Park, Londonthorpe and Harrowby Without Road (not sure if that last piece makes sense to you!).
Perhaps he was visiting his son at the time of death. It would be interesting to see who was in the house in 1951.

Hi TB
I do not think there was a Oak Road in Alma Park only a Drive but I will check.I will have another look in Journal now I have an actual date to work with.
In regards to the query about Harrowby Without the info I gave you came from the
Register of Electors
County Grantham
Polling Dist.Welby(AA)
Election Div.Welby
Registration Unit.Parish of Londonthorpe & Harrowby Without.(Except Spittlegate Heath & the Aerodrome).

Hi Kathy
Sorry - it is Oak Drive as you have indicated.
Thanks again for your help on this one - i have lots of good circumstantial evidence at the moment as i cannot categorically find evidence of Dora and Thomas coming from Nuneaton.

may not be relevant but my family lived in Londonthorpe for a long time up until about 1980. Don't quite know who you are looking for but you have mentioned some of my family members.
