Marriage took place in New Zealand January 1901, Wallace's given age 34, given birthplace, Harrogate, Yorkshire, his parents given names were Albert & Martha nee Wallace. His occupation was a tailor which he carried out in Invercargill until around 1906 when he seems to have disappeared.
Would really like to find out about him prior to New Zealand as a birth or marriage of parents not found, any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Nanafos
I haven't been able to find any record of his birth, any record of his parents or their marriage, nor any record of this family in the census records prior to 1901 (anywhere in the UK).
I suspect that some of the information given in his marriage certificate wasn't entirely accurate.
However other Rootschatters may have more luck!

Many thanks, I haven't been able to locate him either in several variations of surname, I was hoping fresh eyes would have more luck, & yes, I think there's been some porkies given,

I've checked Ancestry, UKBMD, FreeBMD, YorkshireBMD, for births, marriages and censuses.
They've certainly kept themselves to themselves - not a sniff of any of them. Most unusual :(

I've not checked any census, or BMD records, but is it possible that his name in England was Barrington Wallace and that you should be looking for a Wallace family?

Many thanks for the answers, no I didn't think of reversing the name, I'll try that -- he's a very frustrating man !!!!!
Thanks David for checking the BMD's I'd only checked the free & ancestry.

Hi kmbx54,
So far there has been no positive answers to this very frustrating problem, and failing a miracle we may never know, the who, what and where.

Ive cracked it!!!!!!
I got my hands on the marriage cert, looked up the female (my great grandmothers)father. Archibald Johnstone Graham , found his WILL.
He bequest to Jane Wilhelmina Kincaid BALLANTYNE and HER HUSBAND WILLIAM BALLANTYNE!!!
How easy would it be to misinterpret WILLIAM BALLANTYNE for Wallace Barrington?...Potentially, William was a naughty boy if my research is correct and thought it would be a convenient name to continue??
