Hi there,

Welcome to RChat and the Australian board...

Some time ago, I looked up information about a George Ham and Baulkham Hills for another RChatter... and tomorrow I will hunt out the info for you... but it's nearly 10 pm here.

I recall finding him on NSW musters out on a farm and also on the 1828 NSW Census.  I think he had a son also named George, so perhaps that may explain the two different dates you have found ...

Here's the link to the NSW resources that RChat has on this board ....   If you decide to get the certificates for those two deaths, please do consider purchasing the transcripts rather than the certificates themselves, as they have the same information at around half the cost.

Here's the NSW resources thread
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,369703.0.html  (several pages of very useful links)

and here's the BDM information from that resources thread...

I will try to help further, but it will be tomorrow or later ...  ;D

Cheers,  JM

Oh, it was too...

I'll try to help tomorrow....

Where abouts are you ... NSW or other OZ state, or overseas ... (you don't have to answer, but perhaps you may wish to consider listing a country on your profile  ;D ... have a look at my profile and smile  ;) )

Cheers, JM

Edit to add   (in case other RChatters can help you and to avoid duplicating the info  ;) )

Here's some information

Its a submission to the 2001 centenary of Federation project, so its ONLY a submission, but perhaps it may be of assistance... in finding further information or in your own reseach towards verifying the info submitted...

http://www.rootschat.com/links/083v/

noticing that the wife of this George Ham (ex the Royal Admiral of 1800) was an Ann UPTON... AND that there's no info on that submission for his death ....

Also, I still cannot find any index reference on NSW BDM for any death for George Ham between 1822 and 1863... but remembering that the NSW BDM Registrar General's office was not even created until the mid 1850's, so there was no formal civil organisation responsible for the registration processes that exist today.  Early Church Records (baptisms, marriages, burials) are often found indexed on the NSW BDM, but alas, perhaps just as many are not.

Catch up in the next day or so, if I can find any info that is not already on that other thread...

Cheers  JM

Hi there,

On the earlier thread, and at the first reply, Julie gave you an excellent link that perhaps you may re-visit, because I notice that the website with bio info has listed many references for the articles.  One of the references seems to be for a book or booklet, and the surname of that writer seems to be same as the surname of the submitter (back in 2000) for details about George Ham at First Families 2001 ...

At the link Julie gave, there's also the option of sending an email to that website owner ... and perhaps they would be delighted to have information to help verify the two possible dates you have for the death of George... and perhaps to provide you with more information about his families  ;)

Here's that first reply from Julie...
Hi Jen,
Have you tried googling George Ham Convict? This will bring up a few sites to look at. Also, the link below mentions George.
http://members.iinet.net.au/~gstanden/ham.html
You may already have this info, I'm not sure.
Regards, Julie

But, alas, I have not found any likely possibilities on the NSW BDM index for his death ...  perhaps other R Chatters may have some further suggestions to help ... 1830 could be the year George Ham died, while 1863 could be for his son (Henry) George Ham ... although that's only one of many possibilities.

Cheers,

JM
