Hi.
this looks like a great site.....but to me personally it has to be the hardest to use....
I'm trying to get in touch with a user called Deb D from Sydney in Australia.
She has obvoisly resarched the Haerse Family in Australia and my great Grand Mother was one of their number.....
Can someone please help me here.....
cheers,
Andrew.

Welcome to Rootschat -
you can send a personal message to any of the members, but only after you have made 3 postings on line.
If you go to the Help tab in the row at the top of the page, you'll find a section on messages, and a lot of frequently asked questions.
There are a lot of Australian users, and everybody is always ready to help - have you looked at the Australia board? The other thing you might consider is to do a search of the site for Haerse, and any threads or discussions about them should come up.

Hi Andrew
You need to make 3 posts and then you will activate the Personal message system which will allow you to send a private message to Deb.
If you reply to this message, then make another posting that will activate it for you.
You will soon get the hang of using the Forum, and its addictive once you get hooked!

Andrew, a p.s.
I just did a search for Haerse, and there were 4 different members who have mentioned that name in about half a dozen postings, so hopefully you will find it worthwhile for you to use the board and follow those up.
Please say if you run into any problems with the Search - all I did was put in Haerse and then click on Search - not rocket science but got differing threads you could find of interest
Good luck

Andrew, after you've made three posts (the number of posts you've made is under your name), to send a personal message you can click on the person's name or the scroll under their name. This will take you to a page where you are able to write a message, then press 'send'. When the scroll is lit up that means the person is currently on line.
On the bar at the top (with the leaves beside each subject heading) you can click on 'search' to see if there are any mentions of your surnames on the rootschat forums. Or you can click on 'surnames' on the same bar, then click on the correct letter and you'll get a list of all surnames beginning with that letter. You can check here to see if anyone else is researching your surnames.
I hope that helps clarify it a bit.
Good luck.
